POEM DENOTING THE PROMINENCE OF TARĪQAH AT-TIJĀNIYYAH (TIJĀNIYYAH SŪFĪ ORDER)

بِسْــــــــــــــــمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
In the name of Allāh, the Beneficent, the Merciful
هَذِهِ قَصِيدَةٌ دَالَّتْ عَلَى أَهْمِيَّةِ طَرِيقَةِ التِّجَانِيَّةِ لِمَوْلَانَا الشَّيْخِ الْحَاجِّ نُورٍ حَكِيمٍ رَضِيَ الَّلهُ عَنْهُ
This is a poem denoting the prominence of Tarīqah At-Tijāniyyah (Tijāniyyah Sūfī Order)
١. حَمِدْتُ إِلَٰهِى دَلَّنِي بِالْمَشِيئَةِ # عَلَىٰ
خَيْرِ خَلْقِ الَّلهِ خَيْرِ الْبَرِيَّةِ
(1) Ḥamidtu Ilāhī dallanī bi-l-Mashī’ati * ‘Alā khayri khalqi-llāhi khayri-l-Bariyyati
(1) I give thanks to my Lord who directed me
with His will. To the best of creatures, the best of mankind.
٢. وَصَلَّيْتُ فِى الثَّانِى
عَلَىٰ مَنْ لَهُ وَمِنْــ # ــهُ فَيْضُ فُيُوضَاتِ الْإِلٰهِ السَّنِيَّةِ
(2) Waṣallaytu fī-th-Thānī ‘ala man lahu wamin__ *__Hu fayḍu fuyūḍāti-l-Ilāhi-s-Saniyyati
(2) Secondly, I seek Allāh's Blessings upon
him (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), who from the time immemorial has been
the source of Allāh's spiritual
Illuminated flood.
٣. هَدَانِيَ بَعْدًا
لِّصِرَاطِ الَّذِي اسْتَوَىٰ # عَلَيْهِ صَفِيُّ الَّلهِ خَيْرِ الْوَسِيلَةِ
(3) Hadāniya ba‘dān liṣirāṭi-l-ladhi-s-tawā * ‘Alayhi Ṣafiyyu-llāhi khayri-l-Wasīlati
(3) He (Allāh
ﷻ) guided me afterwards to the straight
path. On which Allāh's devout servant
(Shaykh Ahmad Tijānī رضي
الله عنه) trod,
the best mean to attain nearness to Allāh.
٤. فَأَحْمَدُ مَحْمُودُ
وَمَحْمُودُ أَحْمَدُ الــ # ــتِّجَانِى حَفِيدُ الْمُصْطَفَىٰ ذُو الطَّرِيقَةِ
(4) Fa’Aḥmadu Maḥmūdu waMaḥmūdu ’Aḥmadu-t- * Tijānī ḥafīdu-l-Muṣṭafā dhu-ṭ-Ṭarīqati
(4) And Ahmad (Shaykh Ahmad Tijānī رضي
الله عنه) is
Mahmūd (Prophet Muhammad
ﷺ) and Mahmūd
is Ahmad Tijānī, because the
latter was grandson of Mustafā (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) and he was the pioneer of the Path (Tarīqah At-Tijāniyyah).
٥. طَرِيقَتُنَا الْغَرَّآءُ
خَيْرُ طَرِيقَةٍ # مُوَاصِّلَةٌ لِلْحَقِّ أَوْ لِلْحَقِيقَةِ
(5) Ṭarīqatuna-l-Gharrā’u khayru Ṭarīqatin * Muwāṣṣilatun li-l-Ḥaqqi Aw li-l-Ḥaqīqati
(5) Our Path (Tarīqah At-Tijāniyyah) is a pure
spiritual path, the best of all paths. It's a pursuit or connection to the
Truth (Shari'ah i.e Exoteric knowledge) or the Reality (Ma'rifah i.e Esoteric
knowledge).
٦. أُجِيزَتْ لِعَاصٍ بَلْ
وَيُعْطَىٰ لِطَائِعٍ # وَمَا مِثْلُهَا فِى الْعَالَمِ مِنْ طَرِيقَةِ
(6) ’Ujīzat li‘āṣin bal wayu‘ṭā liṭā’i‘in * Wamā mithluhā fi-l-‘Ālami min Ṭarīqati
(6) It can be licensed to a sinner and
nevertheless it should be vouchsafed to the righteous. There is no other paths
in the world that can be likened to this path (Tarīqah At-Tijāniyyah).
٧. وَهَا هِيَ أَصْفَاهَا
وَأَسْهَلُهَا عَلَىٰ # عِبَادٍ وَأَدْنَاهَا لِرَبِّ الْخَلِيقَةِ
(7) WaHā Hiya aṣfāhā wa’ashaluhā ‘alā * ‘Ibādin wa’adnāhā li-Rabbi-l-Khalīqati
(7) Be that as it may, it (At-Tijāniyyah Sūfī order) is the
purest and easiest of all the paths for the servant seeking mean of nearness to
Allāh. For it is the
closest path to the Lord of creations.
٨. مُشَافَهَةً مِنْ غَيْرِ مَا مِنْ وَسِيطَةٍ # 1عَطَاهَا رَسُولُ الَّلهِ لَلشَّيْخِ يَقْظَةً
(8) ‘Aṭāhā Rasūlu-llāhi li-s-Shaykhi yaqẓatan * Mushāfahatan min ghayri mā min Wasīṭatin
(8) The Messenger of Allāh licensed it to
Shaykh Ahmad Tijānī (رضي
الله عنه) in
the state of wakefulness¹. Face to face, where there was no intermediary.
٩. كَمَا قَدْ عَطَاهَا
لِابْنِ عَمِّ وَخِلّهِ2 # عَلِيِّ
فَأَمْسَى بَابَنَا لِلْمَدِينَةِ
(9)
Kamā qad ‘aṭāhā li-b-ni ‘ammi waKhillihi * ‘Aliyyin fa’amsā bābanā li-l-Madīnati
(9) In the exact manner, he had licensed it
to his nephew and intimate associate (Sayyidnā
'Alī كرم
الله وجهه)².
'Ālī and through that
he becomes our Door to the City (i.e City of the Esoteric Knowledge).
١٠. بِيَوْمِ سُؤَالٍ مِّنْهُ
أَيُّ طَرِيقَةٍ # تُوَاصِلُ بِالْمَرْضَاتِ أَدْنَى الْوَسِيلَةِ
(10)
Biyawmi su’ālin minhu ayyu Ṭarīqatin * Tuwāṣilu bi-l-Marḍāti ’adna-l-Wasīlati
(10) In the day the latter (Sayyidunā 'Alī كرم
الله وجهه) asked
the former (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) that which path is a mean to receive Allāh's Pleasure, the
nearest mean to acquire this.
١١. فَدَلَّ عَلِيًّا
قَائِلاً: ذِكْرَ رَبِّنَا # وَوَصَّفَهُ حَقًّا لَهُ بِالْأَدِلَةِ
(11)
Fadalla ‘Aliyyan qā’ilān: dhikra Rabbinā * Wawaṣṣafahu haqqān lahu bi-l-’Adillati
(11) And Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) betokened to 'Ālī by saying:
Mentioning Allāh (Dhikrullāh). And he
portrayed it to him in reality with evidences.
١٢. كَذَاكَ عَطَا لِلشَّيْخِ
لاَ تَشْكُكَنَّهُ # وَصَدِّقْ تَنَلْ خَيْرَ الدُّنَا وَالْقِيَامَةِ
(12)
Kadhāka ‘aṭā li-sh-Shaykhi lā tashkukannahu * Waṣaddiq tanal khayra-d-dunā Wa-l-Qiyāmati
(12) Likewise, he (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) gave it to Shaykh (Shaykh Ahmad Tijānī رضي
الله عنه) do
not ever doubt it. Accept it truthfully, you will acquire the bounties of this
life and that of the Day of Judgement.
١٣. ³وَفَضْلُ التِّجَانِى فَوْقَ كُلِّ الْمَزِيَّةِ #وَذَالِكَ فَضْلُ الَّلهِ
يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَا
(13) Wadhālika faḍlu-llāhi yu’tīhi man yashā’ * Wafaḍlu-t-Tijānī fawqa kulli-l-Maziyyati
(13) And that is the Grace of Allāh, He gives it to
whom He pleases³.
And Allāh's Favour on Tijānī (Shaykh Ahmad Tijānī رضي
الله عنه) surpasses
all privileges (given to others).
١٤. سَعِيدٌ وَمَسْعُودٌ
وَسَعْدٌ جَمِيعُهَا # بِأَمْرِكَ كُلُّ رَبِّ سَعِّدْ جَمَاعَتِى
(14)
Sa‘īdun waMas‘ūdun wasa‘dun jamī‘uhā * Bi’amrika kullu Rabbī sa‘iid Jamā‘atī
(14) A fortunate one, a blessed person and
beatitude in whole are all from Your Command. O my Lord! Bless my folks.
١٥. سَعَادَةُ طُولِ الْعُمْرِ
وَالْعِلْمِ وَالتُّقَىٰ # وَرِزْقٍ وَمَوْلُودٍ وَبَيْتٍ إِقَامَةِ
(15)
Sa‘ādatu ṭūli-l-‘Umri wa-l-‘Ilmi wa-t-Tuqā * Warizqin wamawlūdin wabaytin ’Iqāmatin
(15) Blessings of elongation of lifespan,
knowledge, piety. Affluence, blessed offsprings, and magnificient dwellings
١٦. بِصِحَةِ أَعْضَآءِ
حِسِيًّا وَمَعْنَوِي # وَعَافِيَةِ الْعَيْنَيْنِ ثُمَّ الْبَصِيرَةِ
(16)
Biṣiḥati ’a‘ḍā’i ḥisiyyan wama‘nawī * Wa‘āfiyati-l-‘Aynayni thumma-l-Baṣīrati
(16) Grant them good health overtly and
covertly. And the well-being of the sight and acute spiritual insight
١٧. وَفَهْمِ الْعُلُومِ
وَالْمَعَارِفِ كُلِّهَا # وَرِضْوَانِ أَهْلِ الَّلهِ مَظْهَرِ غَيْبَةٍ
(17)
Wafahmi-l-‘Ulūmi wa-l-Ma‘ārifi kullihā * Wariḍwāni ’Ahli-llāhi maẓhari Ghaybatin
(17) Also grant them understanding of
Sciences and Gnosticism wholesomely. Grant them the pleasure (granted to) the
chosen ones of Allāh, the
manifestation of hidden mysteries.
١٨. سَأَلْتُكَ يَا آمِينَ
بِالْإِسْمِ قَبْلَهُ # فَحَقِّقْ إِلٰهِى بِالْأَمِينِ إِرَادَتِي
(18)
Sa’altuka Yā Āmīna bi-l-Ismi qablahu * Faḥaqqiq Ilāhī bi-l-Amīni Irādatī
(18) I beseech you O Āmīn! with the name
that precedes it. O my Lord! Let it comes to reality with the grandeur of Al-Āmīn (Prophet Muhammad
ﷺ), all my wishes.
١٩. بِتِجَانِيِّ خَتْمِ
الْوِلاَيَةِ مُصْطَفَىٰ # بِبَرْهَامَ ذِي الْفَيْضِ الْعَتِيقِ وَسِيلَتِى
(19)
Bitijāniyyi khatmi-l-wilāyati Muṣṭafā * Bibarhāma dhi-l-Fayḍi-l-‘atīqi Wasīlatī
(19) I beseech you with the honour bestowed on
Tijānī (Shaykh Ahmad Tijānī رضي
الله عنه) the
seal of sainthood, Mustafā (the chosen one).
I also, pleaded with the grandeur of the owner of spiritual flood (Shaykh Ibrāhīm Inyās رضي
الله عنه), my
spiritual mean of nearness to Allāh.
٢٠. بِكُنْ كُنْ يَكُنْ يَا
رَبِّي كُنْ أَزَلِيَّةً # بِمَا بَيْنَ كَافٍ ثُمَّ نُونٍ أَنَيَّتِى
(20)
Bikun kun yakun Yā Rabbī kun Azaliyyatan * Bimā bayna Kāfin thumma Nūnin ’Aniyyatī
(20) I pray with the magnanimity of the
"Kun" (i.e be) and "Yakun" (i.e it be), sempiternal
"Kun"(secret of creation). I beseech you with what is in between the
Kāf and Nūn, to grant my
intention.
٢١. وَآخِرُ دَعْوَانَا أَنِ
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّذِي # لَهُ مُلْكُ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ
(21)
Wa’ākhiru da‘wānā ani-l-Ḥamdu li-l-ladhī * Lahu Mulku yawmi-d-Dīni Yawmi-l-Qiyāmati
(21) And the last of our plea is: Praise be
to Allāh, to whom the
Kingdom of the Last day belongs to, the Day of Judgement.
٢٢. صَلَاةً تُنِيلُ الْأَهْلَ
مِنْ فَضْلِ رَبِّنَا # جَمِيعًا خَوَاصِ الدَّائِرَاتِ الْمُحِيطَةِ
(22)
Ṣalātan tunīlu-l-’Ahla min faḍli Rabbinā * Jamī‘an khawwāṣi-d-Dā’irāti-l-Muḥīṭati
(22) Blessings that will make us all
elligible to acquire Allāh's grace through
being among Khawwās (the best saints
of Allāh) in the Dā’iratul-Muhitāh (the divine
circles of Allāh's Entourage).
٢٣. وَصَلِّ
وَسَلِّمْ يَا إِلٰهِى عَلَىٰ الَّذِي # لَهُ مِنْهُ دَوْرٌ دَّائِّرَاتِ
الْإِحَاطَةِ
(23)
Waṣalli wasallim Yā ’Ilāhī ‘Alā-l-ladhī * Lahu minhu dawrun Dā’irāti-l-Iḥāṭati.
(23) O my Lord! Shower your Blessings and
peace on him. Whom from him is the Dawr (Spiritual circle) of Dā’iratul-Ihātah (Divine
besetment circle of Allāh's Saints).
COMMENTARY

(1) It is undisputable fact that one can be blessed to see the Prophet (ﷺ) in the dream or state of wakefulness due to the fact that the Prophet (ﷺ) declared clearly in numerous ahādīth reported by Imām Al-Bukhāri and Imām Muslim that:
من رآني في المنام فسيرآني فى اليقظة فإن الشيطان لا يتمثل بي
"Whoever that sees me in the dream will soon see me in the state of wakefulness because Shaytān can never imitate my image.
(2) Check Kāshiful-Ilbās of Shaykh Ibrāhīm Inyās (رضي الله عنه) pages 46-47 to read more on how the Apostle of Allāh (ﷺ) taught the fourth Caliph Sayyidnā 'Alī how to seek nearness to Allāh (ﷻ) through chanting Kalimatul-Musharrafah (Lā ilāha illā Allāh).
(3) Allāh says in Sūrah Al-Hadīd Verse 29 that:
لِّئَلَّا يَعْلَمَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَلَّا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَىٰ شَيْءٍ مِّن فَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَأَنَّ الْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَاءُ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ
So that the followers of the Book may know that they do not control aught of the grace of Allah, and that grace is in Allah's hand, He gives it to whom He pleases; and Allah is the Lord of mighty grace.
